POST TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SESSION I & II
MSU Aesthetic & Laser Treatment Center’s post- care instructions are intended to help guide you through a quick recovery process, ensure proper skin healing, and maximize results for your permanent cosmetic tattooing services.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Immediately Post-Treatment
- Immediately following your TATTOOED EYEBROWS: Eyebrows will appear darker and bolder than the healed result. Some skin irritation and swelling is to be expected.
- Immediately following your TATTOOED EYELINER: Eyelids may be swollen, and your eyes may appear red or bloodshot. Blink often, or rest when possible with eyes closed, for the first 24 hours. Sleeping and resting in an elevated position can reduce prolonged swelling.
First 24 Hours Post-Treatment
- Redness & swelling: Experiencing some redness and/or swelling immediately following your treatment is to be expected and should subside within 24 hours. Ibuprofen or Tylenol can help reduce any discomfort.
- Avoid Touching: Do not touch or rub the area, especially with unclean hands.
- Keep clean: You can gently cleanse once or twice a day with mild soap, but DO NOT use washcloths, scrubs, or products that contain active ingredients.
- Showering: Avoid hot water, steam, submerging in water, and high water pressure on the treatment zone for one week or until the area is fully healed.
- Apply Tattoo Ointment: The Tattoo Ointment provided by your medical aesthetician should be applied twice a day and after cleansing for 5-7 days. Reapply if the area becomes uncomfortable or itchy. Reapplication can also help aid in color retention.
- Flaking and fading: You may experience some shedding (flaking of skin) and/or fading from the day of to approximately one week after your treatment day. Pigment will fade 30-40 percent but will start to return to its final color as pigment lifts. Keep applying the Tattoo Ointment as recommended by your medical aesthetician.
First Week Post-Treatment
- No picking: Do not pick, pull, rub, or scratch off flaking skin.
- Avoid Latisse: Lash serums can be reintroduced after 4 weeks.
- The no’s: No waxing, sun exposure, tanning beds, chlorinated pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, or swimming for 4-6 weeks. Even after fully healed, repeated or prolonged exposure to sun or chemicals will cause fading.
- Makeup: New, clean makeup and makeup brushes following permanent tattooing is recommended. Reintroduce makeup after 7-10 days.
- SPF: Daily application of a mineral SPF 30+ (such as ZO Skin Health Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50) will help prevent tattoos from prematurely fading.
