NEUROTOXIN INJECTION (BOTOX COSMETIC)| POST TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS
MSU Aesthetic & Laser Treatment Center’s post- care instructions are intended to help guide you through a quick recovery process, ensure proper skin healing, and maximize results for your Botox Cosmetic injections.
IMMEDIATELY POST-TREATMENT
- Redness, bruising, swelling, or pinpoint bleeding: Anticipated reactions are normal responses that may last up to 48 hours. Occasionally, a headache may result and should resolve on its own. Ibuprofen or Tylenol can help reduce any discomfort.
FIRST FOUR HOURS POST-TREATMENT
- Avoid touching or rubbing: Keep hands away from the face, especially in the treatment zone(s).
- Do not lay down, bend, or lift heavy objects: This can cause migration of neurotoxin to adjacent muscles.
- Do not wear hats or visors: If treated on the forehead.
- Avoid heat: Including saunas, hot tubs, or tanning beds.
- Do not reapply skin care products or makeup.
FIRST 24 HOURS POST-TREATMENT
- No exercise or cardio.
- No alcohol consumption.
- Keep clean: You can gently cleanse once or twice a day with mild soap, but DO NOT use washcloths, scrubs, or products that contain active ingredients.
FIRST 3 DAYS POST-TREATMENT
- Avoid applying pressure: Facial massage, facial cleaning devices, Gua Sha tools, or ice rollers should be avoided as they may alter the placement of your neurotoxin injection.
- When applying facial products and makeup: Use gentle pressure over the treatment zone(s).
COMBINING OTHER COSMETIC TREATMENTS
- Other treatments and combination therapies: BroadBand Light, Hydrafacial, or laser hair reduction can be performed 1-2 weeks prior to your Botox treamtment. However, if scheduling other appointments following your botox treatment, please wait 2 weeks to allow the neurotoxin to settle completely before waxing, laser, or other cosmetic services.
Please Note: Botox takes anywhere from 5-10 days to take effect. Full results will not be seen for two weeks post-treatment and will typically last between 3-5 months.
For any necessary touch-ups: Please make an appointment to be seen 2 weeks post-treatment if touch-ups are needed. Regular rates will apply for any added units of Botox Cosmetic.
Contact your physician or seek emergency care: If you are experiencing nausea, vomiting, rash, or flu-like symptoms.
